Tulips and Windmill Amsterdam to Antwerp - 11 days
Day 1:
Depart Home Gateway City to Amsterdam
Day 2:
Amsterdam Arrive at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, and be greeted by a representative who will escort you to your ship. (D)
Day 3:
Amsterdam Featured Excursions: City Tour and Rijksmuseum Optional Tours: Join us on a compelling look at Jewish history in Amsterdam. Onboard Highlights: Captain's Welcome Dinner Spend your first full day in Holland's largest city. Your scenic tour takes you past Mint Tower, Dam Square, the Royal Palace and Museum Square. Day 4:
Amsterdam and Hoorn Featured Excursions: Keukenhof Gardens & Hoorn Walking Tour Onboard Highlights: Exciting Local Entertainment During the morning, you'll visit the Keukenhof Gardens, a 70-acre showcase of seven million flowers before your floating hotel cruises to the rich seafaring town of Hoorn. As you walk through the town's compact lanes, listen to your guide provide a rare insight on the old houses and the special markings on them. (B, L, D)
Day 5:
Hoorn and Enkhuizen Featured Excursions: Enkhuizen Walking Tour and Zuider Zee Open Air Museum Cruise to Enkhuizen, a lively trading center since the 17th century.Walk Old Town, where you'll see the Drommedarisa magnificent tower built in 1540 to keep watch over the port, and then visit the Zuider Zee Open Air Museum. Day 6:
Nijmegen Featured Excursions: Kröller-Müller Museum Onboard Highlights: Insightful Lecture Spend the morning cruising before reaching Nijmegen. From here, you'll head to the famed Kröller-Müller Museum, home to 278 of Van Gogh's works, as well as pieces by Monet, Gauguin and Picasso. You'll also see the museum's beautiful sculpture garden, which is the largest in Europe and features works by Rodin.* *On Mondays, the Liberation Museum will be visited instead. (B, L, D)
Day 7:
Rotterdam (Kinderdijk) and Dordrecht Featured Excursions: Kinderdijk Windmills Optional Tours: Visit famous Delft, home to Dutch Master Vermeer and also to Delft Blue Pottery. Onboard Highlights: Exciting Local Entertainment Sail to Rotterdam, and cruise through its harbor, the second largest in the world, before heading to Kinderdijk, where you will discover 19 astonishingly well-preserved windmills. Later in the afternoon, sail to the charming town of Dordrecht, Holland's oldest city. (B, L, D)
Day 8:
Veere and Middelburg Featured Excursions: Veere Walking Tour, Middelburg Walking Tour and the Delta Works After your guided walk through charming Veere, visit the engineering marvel known as the Delta Works. At noon, you'll sail to Middelburg, the capital of Zeeland. Your guide will take you to the 12th-century abbey complex, with three churches, an herb garden and office space for the regional government. You'll overnight in Middelburg before sailing to Antwerp. Day 9:
Antwerp Featured Excursions: Walking Tour of Antwerp with Cathedral Visit Optional Tours: Experience Medieval Ghent, a city inhabited since the Stone Age. You'll arrive in the exciting diamond capital of the world, Antwerp, where you will spend two full days. On your first day, you will be guided to the Cathedral of Our Lady that houses four master works by Peter Paul Rubens, who was born in Antwerp. Also visit Market Square, see the Brabo Fountain, and pass by Peter Paul Rubens' former home. (B, L, D)
Day 10:
Antwerp and Bruges Featured Excursions: Bruges with Canal Cruise Onboard Highlights: Captain's Farewell Dinner Your second day in Antwerp takes you to Bruges, one of the best-preserved Medieval cities in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the town as its original visitors did aboard a canal boat and discover why Bruges is often called the Venice of the North. (B)
Day 11:
Depart Antwerp Disembark the ship and transfer to the airport in Brussels for your flight home.
